Field, Flushing and Gun Dog training
Hunting is the oldest job dogs have. It is what they are as canines; predators who seek prey, just as humans are and in this role they have served mankind ever since they were first domesticated. Thousands of years before dogs herded livestock, pulled sleds, sniffed out narcotics, guarded estates or acted as service animals, they were employed in the most basic of all tasks; procuring meat to sustain life. Starting in the summer of 2011, we will be offering field training for pointing and flushing gun dog breeds. Our program is designed to create a proficient hunting dog who is also a valued and obedient family companion. We keep our program flexible and are concerned with what your expectations are for your Dog. We stress obedience training and socialization as much as hunting ability. A dog trained by us is one that goes to the park with the children and family during the week and that Dad can take afield on weekends in the fall. Our training will cover the following: - Evaluation and assessment for hunt desire, prey drive and trainability - Two sessions in basic obedience training - Introduction to basic field commands - Check cord training - E-collar training (if desired by owner) - Teaching to point or flush live birds - Steadiness to wing and shot - Introduction to gunfire and “gun shyness” prevention - Trial hunt for birds - 2 refresher classes for your dog within 12 months of completion of the course Rates Evaluation fee - $50 (non refundable) Training course fee - $500 plus HST
What we offer
At Fun for Fido Inc., we believe all dogs need to have a job to provide them with exercise, mental stimulation to keep them happy and well adjusted.
